Welcome to the Office of Continuing Education at the University of Texas Medical
Branch at Galveston (UTMB Health). Education is a component of the core purpose
of UTMB. In the 120 year history of the institution, thousands of physicians have
been trained. These physicians probably comprise the largest group of health care
providers in Texas. The Office of Continuing Education mission and purpose is to
maintain the availability of lifelong learning to these and other physicians in
our community (which is defined in global terms). As a health science center we
are innovative in the development and application of our educational programs, and
see this as part of our mission.
The UTMB Office of Continuing Education is committed to the development of high
quality educational activities for physicians and other health care providers, which
promote the continued improvement of clinical, teaching, and research skills as
part of a lifelong learning process.
UTcme is committed to providing innovative educational activities to help physicians
and other health professionals maintain their commitment to lifelong learning. The
UTcme program is a partnership of the University of Texas Health Science Center
at Houston and the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston.
The UTMB Office of Continuing Education oversees all continuing medical education
(CME) activities offered by UTcme. The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston
is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)
to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. UTMB has been continuously
accredited by the ACCME since 1972.
